Matcha is finely ground powder of specially grown and processed Japanese green tea leaves.
The green tea plants used for matcha are shade-grown for three to four weeks before harvest and the stems and veins are removed during processing.
During shaded growth, the green tea plant produces more theanine and caffeine giving it it's characteristic flavor.
This matcha is one that you can drink over and over again either on it's own or with your favorite Japanese sweets or desserts.
While you can get all the special accessories traditionally used to make matcha (for example during a traditional tea ceremony.)
You don't need them.
Simply use what you have if you wish.
And after adding a little bit of hot water and stirring with a whisk, frother or even a blender, you'll soon enjoy the same flavor and aroma you'd get like you were drinking matcha in Japan.

I was genuinely impressed with this matcha! After trying so many different brands, it’s always a bit of a gamble because you never really know what you’re going to get, no matter what the product description says. Finding a truly great matcha can feel like a bit of a treasure hunt. That said, this one really stands out! The flavor is wonderfully smooth, with a lovely fragrance and almost no bitterness. I thoroughly enjoyed my first cup, and I’ll definitely be ordering more. If you’re on the hunt for a high-quality matcha, this one is definitely worth trying!

I used the sample packet, which was very small, but the matcha I made from it was surprisingly good. It wasn’t overly bitter and had a fine grind.
Jia –
Very flavorful, not too bitter nor is it too sweet. Easily blends with water.

As a newcomer to matcha, I found this to be good quality. It has a vibrant green color and a nice flavor in my lattes.

I recently tried the Organic Shizuoka Matcha from All Day I Eat Like a Shark tea shop, and I’m thoroughly impressed! With its 40g pack, it’s perfect for matcha enthusiasts who enjoy the traditional tea-making ritual. The organic, finely ground matcha powder has a vibrant green hue that’s indicative of high quality. The taste is rich and earthy with just the right amount of umami, whisking up into a frothy, smooth cup of tea that provides a refreshing boost without any jitters. Plus, it’s from Shizuoka, Japan, known for its exceptional tea. I highly recommend this matcha to any tea lover!

This matcha powder from the All Day I Eat Like a Shark store is delicious and even suitable for newcomers to green and matcha tea. The bitterness is mild and quickly disappears, leaving a hint of sweetness without any acidity or astringency. The matcha powder dissolves easily in hot water, and I love the overall flavor and taste profile. It’s enjoyable to drink and I highly recommend it to tea lovers.

This matcha powder made a nice at-home matcha latte, although I confess to making it a bit too strong on my first try. I’d definitely buy this again.

This tea is fragrant and bright green. I used about 1/2 tsp to 6 oz of water and used a small whisk to blend it. The tea frothed up nicely and easily, and it has a mildly sweet and herbaceous flavor. While I would like to prepare matcha in a more traditional way someday, this method was quick and convenient. Although it’s a bit expensive, you can definitely taste the higher quality.

This matcha is very fresh, earthy, smooth, and mild, which indicates high quality. It’s delicious.
The Dude –
This matcha is JAS certified, and you can taste the difference. It’s smooth, fresh, has no chunks, and blends very well.

I really enjoy this matcha. It has a naturally sweet taste, a beautiful color, and blends easily. I’ll definitely buy it again in the future

I used a traditional matcha whisk and found the quality to be good to very good. While it may not be as high-end as Ippodo matcha, it’s still a solid choice, especially if you value convenience and affordability on Amazon.

This was for the sample packet and it was very small, but the Matcha that I was able to make from it was very good, not overly bitter, and it was finely ground

This matcha is very flavorful, not too bitter or too sweet, and it blends easily with water.

I used a teaspoon of matcha per 5 ounces of hot water and it tasted like a bitter green tea, which is expected. However, the earthy flavor of the matcha wasn’t as strong as I would have preferred. It’s still a decent matcha and I enjoy using it to make matcha lattes occasionally.

Given the small sample size, this matcha is best suited for those who already enjoy matcha and want to try a new brand or for beginners who want to experiment without a significant investment. As someone with some experience but still learning, I slowly added small amounts of matcha to my drink while tasting to find the right balance. The matcha has a pleasant aroma and blends well, as expected. It’s quite flavorful.

As a matcha tea enthusiast, I was excited to try this. I was impressed by its quality, both in appearance and taste. The color was vibrant, and it seemed fresh. Unlike some other matcha I’ve tried, this one wasn’t overly bitter. While I don’t drink matcha regularly due to the cost, I appreciate the small sample packs, which are perfect for occasional drinkers like me. Knowing how good this matcha is, I’d consider splurging on a larger pack from time to time.

Ceremonial grade matcha, seamless minimal packaging, and great flavor! This is a sample size, more fashioned for gifts or just having a go outside your usual caffeinated beverage. Price is considered high, you are more likely to find a better bang for your buck elsewhere. Still great nonetheless.

While I’m not a matcha expert, I thought this was a pretty good quality product. The sample bag is just that, a sample. It’s a very small quantity, but it’s helpful for getting an idea of the flavor and quality before committing to a larger purchase.

This ceremonial matcha sample provides enough for several cups. I find the tea exceptional in taste, and the powder is so finely ground that a sieve isn’t necessary. Ceremonial matcha is always the best choice for a quality tea experience. While I enjoy making lattes with it, the traditional way of drinking it with hot water truly highlights its flavor. I would definitely purchase the full-sized pack of this tea.

Ever wondered about the fuss over ceremonial grade matcha? While the difference might not be huge, this high-quality matcha is noticeable. You can taste the care taken during harvesting and packaging. This sample is enough to make anyone a fan.

As soon as I opened the packet, the fragrant aroma filled the air, promising an amazing taste. I used it to make a banana-blueberry smoothie, and it was incredible! This is the best matcha I’ve ever tasted. High-quality matcha powder can be expensive, and cheaper options often contain impurities or are lower-grade green tea powder. This matcha has a naturally sweet taste, so I didn’t need to add sugar to my smoothie. The sweetness from the powder and fruits was perfect. I only got the sample bag, but I’ll definitely be ordering a larger pack once it’s finished. I’ve found my perfect matcha!
Choosy Indecisive –
This matcha has a nice balanced taste. It came well sealed in a plastic bag. There’s just enough in this sample pack to make a cup, or maybe two small cups, depending on how strong you like your matcha.
RThomas –
A subtle matcha, with a hint of the ocean. A very pleasant tea.
Customer –
Matcha green tea is different from the green tea you find in the regular grocery stores. The taste is delicate. I never thought I’d use this word to describe it because it’s such a pretentious word, but it’s aroma and taste are divine. There, I said it, but it’s true.

Is matcha powder worth the high cost of getting JAS certified, ceremonial grade, authentic Japanese, 100% pure matcha powder? To find out, I made two cups of matcha tea simultaneously: one from this Japanese matcha ($21.25/oz.) and the other from a fresh Chinese “ceremonial grade” powder that cost nearly $15/oz. The results were clear. The Chinese tea had a slightly fishy smell and taste, more like green teas I’ve brewed from loose leaves or tea bags. The Japanese matcha produced a deeper green color, a milder flavor with no off-notes, and was overall more enjoyable. Even as a three-time visitor to Japan, I believe this matcha is as good or better than any matcha green tea I’ve had previously. So, yes, this tea might be worth the extra cost.

As a matcha newcomer, I found Shizuoka’s Finest Organic Ceremonial Matcha to be a great choice. It produces a pleasant, easy-to-drink matcha tea.
My first matcha powder was a different brand, also ceremonial grade. It was a much more vibrant green and had a very strong umami flavor, almost overpowering for a beginner.
Shizuoka’s Finest is a more muted, earthy green. While it might be too subtle for cooking or baking, it’s perfect for a simple, enjoyable cup of matcha tea.
