- ✅ Organic tamaryokucha (curly Japanese green tea) from Oita, Japan
- ✅ The way tea is grown affects the flavor as does the way it’s processed after it’s picked.
- ✅ This steamed green tea has a unique flavor and aroma that you’ll enjoy if you want something different.
- ✅ Still characteristically a japanese green tea but with restrained bitterness and improved sweetness.
- ✅ Comes in an aluminum lined washi (traditional japanese paper) bag to protect the tea from heat, light and oxidation
- ✅ 100 grams makes 24 servings
Tamaryokucha translated means ball or curly tea. During processing, the green tea is steamed and then rolled which develops their characteristic shape.
Some of the flavors that set it apart from other types of Japanese teas include subtle hints of berry fruit and nut with a little bit of citrus and grass mixed in.
This tamaryokucha is from Oita, Japan.
The tea should be steeped at 70 °C (160 °F) for about two minutes or 80 °C (175 °F) for about one minute.

This is delicious tea! I wanted more so I got some!

Japanese tea usually isn’t steeped in boiling water. Usually around 180F is what we use. We have a hot water heater from Japan and it only boils once and then lowers the temperature for making tea.
This tea is nice. It is smooth and goes down well. I prefer hot tea, but I think if you wanted to chill this it would be just as good. I look at the travel size as a taste of it. If you like it, they have a larger size. So try it, if its good then buy the big one.

This is a truly high-quality green tea from Japan. The only downside is that I wish it came in larger quantities, as I find myself running out quickly. While it’s a bit pricey for the amount you get, the quality justifies the cost.
I love that this tea has a mellower taste and a refreshing green leafy flavor, perfect for summer. I find that cold brewing brings out the best flavor, allowing the tea to steep slowly in cold water overnight. I appreciate the detailed brewing instructions, including the recommended water temperature to avoid scorching the leaves.
If you enjoy green tea, you’ll likely appreciate this one, as its flavor profile is milder than many other green teas I’ve tried.

A really lovely green tea – this brews up a cup of lime-green tea that’s smooth and buttery. This tea has the toasted rice flavor of green tea, but it’s very mild and balanced. This is the kind of tea that makes me wish I knew more about green tea, it’s an understated tea, but makes me think *this* is what green tea is supposed to be.

This tea has a clean, crisp flavor that’s perfect for those who enjoy this style of tea. The tea bags are conveniently portioned for individual cups, making them ideal for the office. You can easily store them in your desk and grab a cup of hot water whenever you need a quick pick-me-up.

This tea has a very smooth and pleasant taste. Even though I’m sensitive to caffeine, this tea doesn’t give me the jitters at all. As expected, the travel size is quite small.

This was a reasonably sized, resealable package of organic Tamaryokucha – Curly Japanese Green Tea is a great option. Renowned for its quality, Japanese green tea, especially from Oita, is known for being less bitter and sweeter than other varieties. While this tea does have a subtle green taste, it’s not overly bitter. It makes a delightful cup of tea.

This review is for the Organic Tamaryokucha (Curly Japanese Green Tea) from Oita, Japan. Pat from ‘All Day I Eat Like A Shark’ consistently delivers high-quality Japanese teas. I appreciate the sample-sized bags that allow for trying new flavors before committing to larger quantities.
While the initial taste without sugar was a bit spinach-like, adding a touch of sugar transformed the flavor into a delightful, refreshing brew. Though I’m not a tea connoisseur, Pat’s website provides detailed flavor profiles. This tea has a fresh, crisp taste reminiscent of spring.
If you’re new to Japanese teas, I recommend checking out the website for complete brewing instructions. This tea is a fantastic choice, especially for those who enjoy a milder, more refreshing flavor profile

This curly Japanese green leaf tea from Oita, Japan is fantastic. It’s a mild, relaxing tea with a fresh aroma. The flavor is smooth with earthy and grassy notes. It doesn’t require a long steeping time to achieve a pleasant flavor without bitterness. It’s delicious both plain and with a touch of sugar. I haven’t tried it as iced tea yet.

This product arrived safely shipped. While the expiration date on the back is in Japanese and couldn’t be translated, the fresh appearance and aroma of the tea material were evident.
Once steeped, the tea has a unique, light green color. The premium green tea is truly delightful.
Considering the 10g bag is intended as a sample or for travel, the 100g bag offers good value. I appreciate the company’s offer of a sample size, allowing customers to try the tea before committing to a larger purchase

This tea comes in a small, resealable zip-top bag. Inside is a fragrant, finely cut green tea. I steeped my first cup for about 60 seconds, resulting in a light yellow-green tea with a mild, slightly grassy flavor and a hint of natural sweetness. I enjoyed it without adding sugar. There was a bit of leaf sediment at the bottom of the cup.
I brewed a second cup with the same leaves, steeping for 3 minutes. While still good, it was a bit over-steeped. I recommend steeping the second cup for 2 minutes for a better flavor. You might even be able to get a third steep out of it.
Overall, I enjoyed this tea and look forward to finishing this small, trial-sized bag.

This tea is very nice in that it’s not bitter, if you prefer that. It’s perfect with just a hint of sweetness to it, like monkfruit or stevia, or regular sugar. I appreciate that this smaller bag was available so I could try it out without getting a large bag. The leaves are cut pieces but not “dusty,” so it’s easy to steep without having much sediment in your cup.

I’m a big fan of green tea. I’ve had all different types of green tea, but love that this tea is organic and sourced from Japan. The package was securely sealed and the bags smelled very fresh with a strong green tea scent. When used to make tea the brew was very fragrant and had a nice, full green tea flavor. I was very pleased and will definitely use them in the future. I can’t wait to try the other green tea from all day i eat like a shark!

This tamaryokucha green tea is delicious and high-quality. The flavor is great, the packaging is resealable for convenience, and the size is perfect for travel or trying out the tea. I’d definitely consider buying it again and recommending it to others.

My wife and I were pleasantly surprised by the taste of this tea while traveling. It’s a smooth, mellow green tea, a stark contrast to the bitter, harsh teas we’re used to from brands like Lipton or hotel offerings. We enjoyed it so much that we finished the entire bag before moving to our next hotel. We’ll definitely be ordering more for our future travels.

As a green tea enthusiast, I’ve been collecting various types. This Tamaryokucha is truly delightful, offering a fragrant, earthy, and flavorful experience.
The convenient 10-gram travel-size bag makes it perfect for on-the-go enjoyment, far superior to the standard green tea options found in restaurants or coffee shops.

Despite being a small 10-gram sample, this tea was incredibly delicious. Brewing at 175°F, we were able to enjoy four rounds of Gong Fu style. The taste was buttery, lightly grassy, with hints of green grapes. A perfect way to start the morning.

This small bag of curly leaf green tea is a quality product, despite its size. While it may seem expensive, the high quality justifies the price. It’s significantly better than cheaper Japanese green teas, offering a smooth, complex flavor profile with subtle grassy, nutty, and tangy notes.
A short steeping time of half a minute is sufficient. Steeping for a minute can be too long. Unlike cheaper teas that require longer steeping times and deteriorate quickly, this tea can be steeped multiple times, each offering a slightly different flavor profile.
Upgrade from your cheap teabags and indulge in this delicious, high-quality tea

This tea is nice and light with a good flavor. While the travel size is convenient, it would be even better if the bag were a bit larger. Overall, it’s a good option.

If you enjoy green teas, tamaryokucha is a nice tasty tea. it is low on caffeine so thats good if you’re trying to avoid it or if you want something hot to drink throughout the day.

This green tea is exactly what I look for: bright, grassy, and not too bitter. I rarely add sugar to my tea, and this one is perfect without it. I’d definitely buy it again
John Pick –
I used the entire packet to make 20 ounces of hot tea, hoping to reuse the leaves a couple of times.
The tea tastes great. It’s the real deal.

This tea has an excellent flavor. It’s light-tasting and not too astringent. However, the bag size is quite small.
