Description
The Scent of Sakura Season — Any Time of Year
In Japan, cherry blossom season (hanami) lasts just a few weeks each spring. Entire parks fill with people eating, laughing, and drinking beneath the flowering trees. It's a fleeting, beautiful thing.
We wanted to make that moment last.
Sencha with Sakura Leaves is a Japanese green tea blended with preserved cherry blossom leaves — the same sakura used in traditional Japanese sweets and ceremonial teas. Each cup carries the subtle floral aroma of sakura alongside the fresh, grassy character of quality sencha.
Unlike the limited seasonal drops that most brands do once a year, we carry this year-round.
What It Tastes Like
The base is Japanese sencha — clean, bright, slightly vegetal with a pleasant natural sweetness. The sakura leaves add:
- A delicate floral note that comes through in the aroma first
- A subtle sweetness without any added flavors or sugar
- A light whisper of cherry blossom on the finish
The result is a tea that's distinctly Japanese and unmistakably spring, even in January.
Flavor profile: Light, floral, fresh, gently sweet
Caffeine: Medium (100% natural, from the sencha base)
Good for: Morning tea, gifting, spring entertaining, pairing with Japanese sweets
Brewing Instructions
| Method | Water Temp | Amount | Steep Time |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hot | 75°C / 167°F | 1 tsp per 200ml | 60–90 seconds |
| Cold brew | Room temp → refrigerate | 1.5 tsp per 500ml | 4–8 hours |
| Iced | Brew hot, pour over ice | Standard amount | 45 seconds (stronger) |
Note: Don't use boiling water — 75°C preserves the delicate floral character. A lower temperature also brings out more sweetness from the sencha base.
The sakura leaves will open and float as they steep. This is normal and beautiful. Remove the infuser before they over-steep.
About the Sakura Leaves
Japanese sakura (cherry blossom) is preserved using a traditional salt-curing technique, then carefully dried for use in foods and teas. The preservation process maintains the characteristic pink-tinged appearance and delicate floral fragrance.
Each batch we use is:
- Sourced from Japan
- Naturally preserved (no artificial flavoring)
- Blended in proper proportion to the sencha base — floral, not overpowering
Why ADIELAS Sakura Tea Is Different
Most US brands treat sakura tea as a seasonal limited edition — here one week, gone the next, back-ordered for months. We carry it as a permanent product in our catalog.
If you've been frustrated by other shops selling out, you found the right place.
Pair It With
- Black Tea with Sakura Leaves — our wagōcha-style Japanese black tea version of this blend; richer, earthier base
- Gyokuro — for a full sakura-season Japanese tea flight
- Japanese sweets (wagashi) — sakura mochi, dorayaki, or any red bean preparation
