Delicious! Perfect for making hojicha lattes.

Nice flavour
DebuDebu –
Hojicha tea is a roasted green tea, offering a distinct flavor profile compared to sencha. The ‘hoji’ refers to the roasting process, while ‘cha’ means tea.
It’s known for its lower caffeine content compared to other green teas, though it’s not entirely caffeine-free.
We enjoy the pleasant flavor of this hojicha powder. It dissolves well and tastes good. We’ve had positive experiences with this sample.
As we don’t make lattes with this tea, I can’t comment on its suitability for that purpose

Miyazaki’s Finest Organic Hojicha Powder exceeded my expectations. As a lover of Japanese tea, especially hojicha, I was thrilled with its authentic flavor. The fine powder is incredibly versatile, perfect for lattes, smoothies, and baked goods. Hojicha’s distinct roasted aroma sets it apart from matcha, and its toasty flavor complements baked goods beautifully.
Despite the small 10-gram sample size, I was surprised by the number of servings it yielded. I enjoyed several cups of hojicha tea and even used it to flavor homemade ice cream, a delightful combination. The sample size is ideal for trying hojicha without committing to a larger quantity. The packaging is sturdy and keeps the tea fresh.
The price of the 10-gram sample is reasonable, considering the high quality and organic certification. It’s a great investment for those curious about authentic Japanese tea.
While hojicha powder differs in color from matcha, it can be used creatively in various recipes. I’ve enjoyed it on ice cream and look forward to experimenting with hojicha cookies.
Overall, Miyazaki’s Finest Organic Hojicha Powder offers a convenient and delicious way to experience the rich, roasted flavor of authentic Japanese hojicha. Its versatility and robust flavor make it a standout product for tea enthusiasts
Customer Review –
I followed online instructions to dissolve 1/2 tsp of hojicha powder in hot water and then added hot milk. It was delicious. The powder also worked well in yogurt. However, I found that regular matcha powder was more suitable for ordinary tea. The hojicha powder was a bit tricky to balance, as a slight difference in quantity could result in a grainy texture or a weak flavor.
Everything Wellness –
I prefer hojicha lattes over matcha, and this one makes a smooth and enjoyable latte. It tastes rich and creamy when combined with oat milk and frothed.

Having grown up with hojicha, I didn’t consult the instructions for this powdered version. While I’ve had hojicha before, this was my first experience with the powdered form. I simply mixed it with hot water to get a taste.
The taste was excellent, with a deep, roasted green tea flavor that I was looking for. Some hojichas lack depth, but this one delivers, with a subtle earthiness and a hint of bitterness.
As this is a sample pack, it was a bit challenging to gauge the amount needed for each use.
I’ll experiment with lattes and update my review. So far, I can confidently say it tastes authentic and delivers the true hojicha flavor.
Matthew Danielson –
This cute little packet offers a good introduction to this tea. While the description sounded intriguing, especially for a matcha lover like me, the reality was a bit different.
It’s essentially a slightly more bitter, browner version of matcha, with a hint of earthiness. While I enjoy smoky flavors in beer, cocktails, and food, this tea didn’t quite deliver on that promise. It tasted more like slightly burnt matcha to me.
However, it’s not bad, and for a few dollars, it’s worth trying for yourself to form your own opinion.

Great sample size, a little expensive, simple flavor, perfect for a gift!

The sample is small but it was enough to make two very delicious lattes with sweetened almond milk. I heated the milk and added about half of the 10 gram sample before frothing it with my battery powered milk frother.
The taste was very good with a hint of smokiness and without any bitterness or gritty texture. We both enjoyed our lattes!

Growing up in Japan, I’m familiar with traditional hojicha. This is my first experience with powdered hojicha. I experimented with the amount and found that 1/4 teaspoon in 8 oz of hot water replicated the brewed tea’s flavor. I enjoyed the familiar taste of hojicha, which pairs well with snacks like rice crackers.
While clear brewing instructions would be helpful for those unfamiliar with hojicha, the product itself is of high quality
HellOnFire –
I was unfamiliar with hojicha, but I’m glad I gave it a try. I also ordered matcha powder from the same company, and both products are incredibly flavorful, despite their distinct taste profiles. The matcha was one of the best I’ve ever had, so I had high expectations for the hojicha. It didn’t disappoint. I’ve become a fan and will definitely order more.
I even used this hojicha powder in a smoothie and didn’t need to add any sugar. The sweetness from the fruits and nuts was sufficient. I absolutely loved it!
BusyBee –
I received the sample packet and have been enjoying milk tea the last couple of mornings.
I found the Powder to be very fine, it mixed in easily. (I used a frother to mix the tea and milk)
I found the taste and texture to be smooth and not over powering, no bitterness, just earthy green tea.
This is definitely a high quality Hojicha Powder and I would purchase again.
Max –
Hojicha should be treated more like matcha. Use about 3 grams of powder with 2-4 ounces of 175°F water. I ended up using the whole pouch for a hojicha latte.
While the powder is decent, I quickly consumed the entire bag. Considering the price, it might not be the most cost-effective option. Loose leaf hojicha is generally cheaper and better suited for traditional brewing. Powdered hojicha works well for lattes, but the price point isn’t ideal.
R. Florez –
This was my first time trying hojicha, and it tasted better than I expected. I mixed half a teaspoon with boiling water, vanilla creamer, and frothed it, creating a delicious drink. While I still prefer matcha, this was a pleasant surprise.
R.P. –
Hojicha is a roasted green tea. I’ve consumed hojicha lattes and baked goods before, and this powder smells like other hojicha goods I’ve had before. It’s a very fine powder (like ground cinnamon).
Real Review Bee –
I love hojicha and this is a good quality packet, I wish they sold more! Easy to mix and create a creamy latte on cold days like today.
Mike –
As someone familiar with matcha, I was eager to try hojicha for the first time. This sample size powder provided a great introduction. Unlike matcha, hojicha is roasted, giving it a distinct smoky aroma and a cocoa-like flavor with subtle sweet and bitter notes. I enjoyed the smooth taste and texture.
Katarina –
As this was my first experience with roasted green tea powder, I had nothing to compare it to. Initially, the powder had a slight kelp-like smell, but a deeper sniff revealed a hint of green tea or grass. It’s finely ground and has a golden-brown color.
The taste was slightly sweet and grassy, but I didn’t detect any caramel notes. While the quality seems high, brewing instructions would have been helpful, especially for those new to hojicha.
I recommend this product to those familiar with hojicha and know how to prepare it.
Yum –
While the 3.5oz pouch of Hojicha Powder is a bit pricey at $39.99, the quality justifies the cost. Finding good quality Hojicha powder can be challenging. This one has an amazing smell and taste. I use it for evening lattes, and it’s a delightful treat after a long day. The flavor is smooth with nutty undertones and a hint of chocolate and caramel. No sweetener is needed, it’s delicious as is
